Warren's Hollywood career has spanned over six decades
Warren's memorable movies
Warren, born on 30 March 1937, has starred in some of the most iconic feature films over his six-decade career, including Bonnie and Clyde (1967), McCabe & Mrs. Miller (1971), Shampoo (1975), Dick Tracy (1990), and Bugsy (1991), where he met and fell in love with Annette.
Annette, born on 29 May 1958, was a Broadway star before she turned to the big screen, earning a Tony Award nomination for her stage debut in the 1987 play Coastal Disturbances. She scored another nomination in 2019 for her leading role in Arthur Miller's All My Sons.
Her first major film role in the 1990 movie The Grifters earned her first of five Academy Award nominations. She was also nominated in 1999, 2004, 2010, and 2023, all for Best Actress.
She has gone on to star in major films including American Beauty (1999), The American President (1995), The Kids Are All Right (2010), and Nyad (2023).
Warren met Annette when he was 53 and she was 32, but she wasn't surprised by her attraction to him, as she preferred older men. "I had never been attracted to younger guys. I had, from my late teens, always liked men who were older than me," she told the Express in 2011.
Annette also looks at their 21-year age gap positively. "I've learnt valuable lessons about life from Warren. He's 21 years older than I am and we've always been at different stages of life. He's got a lot of experience," she told The Times in 2018.
Warren fell in love with Annette in under 10 minutes
The couple first met over a business lunch to discuss starring in Bugsy together, but it turned out to mean so much more for Warren. "I love her, and I'm going to marry her," he told Bugsy director Barry Levinson.
"It took about 10 minutes [to fall in love with her]. Maybe five," he later added, according to the NY Post. They tied the knot in 1992, two months after welcoming their first child together that January.
Annette thought Warren was 'incredibly intelligent'
Annette first noticed Warren's intelligence
While Warren experienced love at first sight, Annette's first impression "was that he was incredibly intelligent," she previously told People. "I remember thinking 'Wow, this guy is so smart and so sharp and funny, but more — just articulate."
She added: "He was very talkative. He was very passionate about the movie that he was about to make. He had a lot to say — and he was charming, for sure."
