Saved by the Bell star Dennis Haskins' cause of death has been revealed, less than two weeks after his agent, Jay Schacher, confirmed his passing.
The 75-year-old died at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, California, on September 27, with the primary cause of death being Parkinson's disease.
Other contributing conditions listed on his death certificate by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health included irritable bowel syndrome, depression, hypertension and benign prostatic hyperplasia.
According to Dennis' ex-wife, Sarah Quinones, none of his friends knew of his Parkinson's diagnosis, and he had cut off communication from his loved ones so as to keep it private, as she told TMZ. He was residing in an assisted living facility at the time of his death, and is survived only by his son, Dustin.
Saying goodbye
Dennis' agent Jay shared in a statement that "everyone loved Mr Belding and those of us who got to know Dennis, loved him even more".
"He was a great person, and he loved, I mean absolutely LOVED, his fans. He always had time for them, no matter what. He was my client and dear friend for over 20 years, and I will miss him terribly. I'm heartbroken," he concluded.
An incredible legacy
Dennis portrayed Principal Belding on all four seasons of Saved by the Bell from 1989 to 1993, alongside stars like Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Tiffani Thiessen, Elizabeth Berkley, Mario Lopez, Lark Voorhies and Dustin Diamond. He then reprised his role on Saved by the Bell: The New Class in 1993, and remained until the series wrapped in 2000.
Paying tribute
Several of Dennis' former co-stars shared heartbreaking tributes to the late actor, including Mario and Tiffani. "Heartbroken to hear about my old friend Dennis Haskins. He played the principal, but Dennis was the biggest kid on the SBTB set," Mario wrote. "If you knew him, you loved him – and if there was karaoke, you knew Dennis was getting on that mic!"
"I'm grateful for the laughs, the memories, and the friendship we shared all these years. Rest easy, my friend. You'll always be part of our Bayside family," he finished.
Tiffani wrote a tribute on social media that read: "Dennis Haskins was a steady presence in my teenage years, the kind of figure who kept us in line while making sure we knew he was in our corner."
"I will always remember his kindness and be grateful for the memories we as a cast got to share with him. RIP Mr B."
