Kerry Kennedy is sharing insight into her mother Ethel Kennedy's relationship with Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, and the tenderness they shared.

Though the two Kennedy family matriarchs have had well-documented differences between each other, they were eternally bonded through decades of friendship and shared grief; both of their husbands, John F. Kennedy and Robert F. Kennedy, respectively, were assassinated five years apart, the president in November 1963 and his younger brother and attorney general in June 1968.

On Monday, October 12, the human rights activist — one of Ethel and RFK's 11 children — appeared on the Today Show to promote her new book dedicated to her mother, Ethel Kennedy: The Extraordinary Life and Bold Legacy, out October 13.

Speaking with Craig Melvin, she revealed an incredibly tender moment between her mother and aunt Jackie, when the latter was on her deathbed, suffering from complications of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

Ethel got into bed with the former first lady, and they shared one last moment deeply imbued with their faith.
