The cause of death of Days of Our Lives star Robert Kelker-Kelly has been revealed, nearly four weeks after the actor died suddenly at the age of 62.
The actor, who was best known for playing Bo Brady on the long-running soap opera, died from arteriosclerotic heart disease, the Office of the Regional Medical Examiner in St. Charles, Missouri, confirmed to People.
His death on October 3 was ruled natural.
The findings come after Robert's wife, Allison Kelly, revealed the concerning symptoms her husband experienced in the hours before his death.
Robert's final hours
According to a police report obtained by People, Allison had picked up her husband, who worked as a professional pilot, from Spirit Airport at around 7.30pm when he began complaining of pain in his chest and left arm.
During the drive home, Robert asked her to pull over so he could vomit. Despite his wife's concerns, he reportedly declined to go to hospital, saying he wanted to return home and rest.
His symptoms continued after they arrived at their Missouri home, and he asked Allison to bring him an aspirin.
When she returned to their bedroom, she discovered her husband unresponsive and not breathing.
Allison immediately called 911 and began performing CPR, but despite the efforts of emergency responders, Robert was pronounced dead at 9.09pm.
His wife told authorities that he had no known medical conditions and was not taking prescription medication.
Robert's television career
Robert became a familiar face to daytime television viewers during a career spanning several decades.
He first rose to prominence playing Sam Fowler on Another World in 1987 before taking over the role of Bo Brady from Peter Reckell on Days of Our Lives in 1992.
He remained on the show until 1995, starring alongside Lisa Rinna, who played his on-screen love interest Billie Reed.
The pair won a Soap Opera Digest Award for Hottest Soap Couple in 1995.
The star left the show in 1995 before joining the cast of General Hospital in 2001 as Stavros Cassadine, and reprised his role several times over the years.
Robert stepped back from acting in the early '00s to pursue a career as a pilot, and has also sporadically worked as an acting teacher over the years.
He is survived by his wife, Allison, and his daughter, Amelia Rose Kelly.
