Marie Osmond 'devastated' over teenage son's death

The 18-year-old son of American singer Marie Osmond has died, says a spokesman for the family.

In the statement Marie, 50, said that her family was "devastated and in deep shock by the tragic loss" of her son Michael Blosil.

US media reports say that Michael committed suicide by jumping from an apartment building in Los Angeles.

Although never part of her family's singing group, Marie gained success as a solo country music artist in the 1970s and 1980s.

She and her brother Donny later hosted the TV variety show Donny & Marie.

The Los Angeles coroner's office said the death of her son was being investigated.
