The American TV series that everyone has been talking about, Breaking Bad had record figures for its final episode on Sunday night. The cult hit has slowly hooked in millions of viewers; the opening episode only drew in 1.2 million viewers but the finale was watched by over 10.3 million people in the US.
The TV show follows Walter White - played by Bryan Cranston - a struggling high school chemistry teacher who gets involved with the criminal underworld after being diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer. In order to clear his debts and leave his family financially secure Walter teams up with his former student and small time drug dealer Jesse Pinkman, played by Aaron Paul.
Having built up a following since 2008 Breaking Bad has received critical acclaim; the fifth series alone picked up ten primetime Emmy awards and has put the show among the most watched TV shows on American cable TV.
Thousands of Twitter users and celebrities discuss the finale and express how upset they were that the show was ending. Rihanna posted photos of her favourite moments from the show and Ellen DeGeneres said "#BreakingBad ends tonight. No more murderous drug dealers and horrifying criminals. I miss it already"
