Phil Spector selling castle to fund appeal against sentence

Phil Spector is selling his 30-room LA mansion to fund an appeal against his conviction for the 2003 murder of Hollywood actress Lana Clarkson, reports The Times.

The producer, renowned for pioneering the 'wall of sound' technique, began a sentence of 19 years to life last weekend.

He had looked pale and tense during the judge's ruling, under which he won't be eligible for parole until he is 88.

His fourth wife, 28-year-old model and actress Rachelle Short, who wed the music boss in 2006, said: "This is a sad day for everybody involved."

She also vowed "to dedicate (herself) to proving my husband's innocence".

The 69-year-old was convicted in a retrial after the jury in his original 2007 trial failed to reach a unanimous decision
