The title of the 23rd James Bond film has been confirmed as Skyfall at the photocall to mark the official start of production.
The film's name was leaked early by an eagle-eyed fan who spotted that Sony had registered a series of new online domain names including 'jamesbond-skyfall' and 'jamesbondskyfall'.
Producer Michael G Wilson said the title was "the worst kept secret in London".
The latest 007 adventure will see Daniel Craig as the suave secret agent for the third time.
Leading ladies have been confirmed as French actress Berenice Marlohe, who has confessed her character will be "glamorous" and "enigmatic", and Naomie Harris.
Skyfall is to be directed by Kate Winslet's former husband Sam Mendes, who admitted he had been a fan of the films since childhood.
The film will be shot in London, Turkey, China and Scotland.
It will see Bond's loyalty tested to M, his superior, while MI6 headquarters faces an attack.
The movie, which sees the return of Dame Judi Dench as spy boss M, will also star Ralph Fiennes, Albert Finney and Javier Bardem as the villain of the piece.
With the launch of the 23rd instalment, James Bond returns aims to bounce back after a studio bankruptcy put production on hold for months and the last movie earned mixed reviews.
Sony Pictures, a unit of Sony Corp, will distribute the film, which is set to hit British cinemas on Oct 26, 2012 and US cinemas on Nov 9.
The title of the film was revealed on the same day that marked 50 years since Sean Connery was announced to be the first James Bond.
