The mother of the youngster who captured Elton John's heart has said she will not give up her maternal rights.
Marina Timoshenko, a 25-year-old Ukrainian, had son Lev taken into care in the eastern European country because of her alcholism.
"I love him so much and desperately want him back so I can hold him again," she says.
The musician had spoken of his hope to adopt the 15-month-old smasher when they met at an orphanage for children affected by HIV.
Marina is HIV positive and penniless, as is her former partner 31-year-old Sergey, who is the father of Lev and his brother Artyom, three.
