Eddie Izzard still on the run as he reaches Welsh hometown

He may have been running for eight days straight, but comedian Eddie Izzard is showing no signs of slowing down as he continues his marathon fundraiser.

And it was an extra special stretch he covered on Wednesday as he passed through his hometown in Wales.

Clutching his Welsh flag, the 47-year-old jogged through Cefn Park, the road where he used to live in Skewen.

Eddie had previously mentioned this particular part of the route would be hard for him.

“It’s hugely emotional because that’s where mum died. I’ve got a very complicated, emotional relationship with it,” he said.

The TV funnyman is running up to 30 miles a day across the UK in support of Sport Relief. Through the challenge he aims to benefit young people around the world.

His marathon effort, taking in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland, will finish in London’s Trafalgar Square in September.

"People are honking their support more than ever – especially lorries as they go past,” Eddie says.

And the comedian is scooping praise from within the celebrity circle too.

Kingdom actor Stephen Fry named Eddie's efforts "heroic" on his Twitter page.
