Maggie Smith vows to complete Potter despite cancer

Oscar-winning actress Dame Maggie Smith is determined to complete the final Harry Potter film following her brave battle with breast cancer.

The 74-year-old, who plays Professor McGonagall in the magical series, has been given the all-clear after two years fighting the disease.

Maggie admits she feels "very uncertain" but plans to "stagger through".

Her chemotherapy treatment meant the actress was hairless for the filming of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince last year.

"The cancer was hideous. It takes the wind out of your sails and I don't know what the future holds," she says.

"The last couple of years have been a write-off, though I'm beginning to feel like a person now. My energy is coming back."
