When X-Men foes Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart teamed up for a West End revival of Waiting For Godot audiences were eager to see the results.
The show certainly impressed rock royals Paul McCartney and Sting, who caught the first performance at the Theatre Royal Haymarket, along with Frank Skinner. Critics were also bowled over, hailing the perfomance as "inspired” and a chance to see "two veteran actors at the top of their game”.
In the re-working of Samuel Beckett’s 1955 masterpiece the theatre luminaries portray Estragon and Vladimir, two tramps who pass the time by a deserted road as they wait for the mysterious Godot.
They are joined in the production by Simon Callow, plus four child actors who alternate in the role of the boy
