Guillermo del Toro wants to work with Benedict Cumberbatch again

Monday July 8, 2013

Mexican director, Guillermo del Toro, has revealed he would like Sherlock's Benedict Cumberbatch to join his cast for the remake of Frankenstein.

The Pacific Rim director, who is currently working with the Atonement star on his horror thriller Crimson Peak, has already got plans to work with the British actor in the future.

"I am hoping to direct Cumberbatch again in a new film version of Frankenstein," he told the Daily Telegraph.

This is not the first time that Benedict would take on a role surrounding Mary Shelley's horror novel. He has previously appeared in Danny Boyle's stage production in London in 2011 alongside Johnny Lee Miller, with whom he alternated the lead role of Victor Frankenstein and the Monster.

2013 is already a busy year for the Star Trek actor who already has three upcoming films out for release this year including The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug, August: Osage County and The Fifth Estate, in which he plays WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.

Benedict will also reprise his role as London-based detective Sherlock Holmes in the third series of BBC drama Sherlock, which is due to air on BBC One in late 2013 or early 2014.
