Hugh Laurie's spy novel is a hit with French readers

Not only do the French love Hugh Laurie's turn as prickly American medic Dr House, they're also wild about his writing talents. The French translation of a spy novel penned by the British star has gone down a storm, topping sales lists in the country.

After its release in January, the French version of Hugh's book The Gun Seller – which is called Tout Est Sous Controle or Everything's Under Control in France - grew in popularity, until it achieved number one status last month.

In the book, which was first released in 1996, Hugh tells the tale of Thomas Lang, a former Scots Guards officer who gets involved with a group of international arms dealers and the CIA.

The House star recently revealed his plans to make the book into a film after a production company bought the rights. There's been no word yet, though on whether he'll appear in it.
