Silver screen beauties defy cold at Baftas

Silver screen beauties defy cold at Baftas

As George Clooney said, the ladies had chosen fashion over warmth.

There were plenty of bare shoulders and décolletage in sight as Hollywood beauties and homegrown talents sashayed up the red carpet at this year's Baftas.

Leading the glamorous ladies was Jessica Chastain. The flame-haired The Help beauty looked every inch the screen starlet in a lamé creation with a billowing skirt by Oscar de la Renta.

"It's a big deal to be here - and to be a nominee is incredible," she enthused. "It's great the fact I get to walk next to George Clooney and Kenneth Brannagh... It's bizarre but wonderful."

The metallic maiden look was a hit on the red carpet with Gillian Anderson, Emilia Fox and Christina Ricci all channelling the style.
