She has enjoyed extraordinary success this year, even breaking records with her critically-acclaimed music.
And it's clear that Adele counts her singing as more important than her public image, addressing questions about her fluctuating weight by saying: "I don't make music for eyes, I make music for ears."
Talking to US Rolling Stone magazine, the 22-year-old said "My life is full of drama and I won't have time to worry about something as petty as what I look like.
"I don't like going to the gym. I like eating fine foods and drinking nice wine."
She also talked about her struggles with stage fright.
"I'm scared of audiences. One show in Amsterdam I was so nervous I escaped out the fire exit," she said.
"I've just got to bear it."
