Family pays moving tribute to Evelyn Lauder

Evelyn Lauder, inventor of the little pink ribbons and patron of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, passed away on Saturday, aged 75 after suffering ovarian cancer.

Although a figurehead of the Estée Lauder cosmetics empire, her great calling was to raise awareness of breast cancer.

Her foundation has raised over $330 million for research.

She is survived by her husband Leonard - the son of Estée Lauder - and her own two sons.

"My mother carried the torch of our Company heritage and the values that were passed to her by my grandmother, Mrs Estée Lauder," said William Lauder.

"My mother and father were life partners as well as business partners.

"They nurtured the culture and growth of the Estée Lauder Companies, and as we grew, my mother was our creative compass and pillar of strength".
