Janet Jackson pledges to care for Michael's children

She was seen by millions comforting Michael Jackson's children at his memorial concert, and now Janet Jackson has told her family she is willing to bring up the youngsters, Prince Michael, 12, Paris 11, and seven-year-old Blanket.

Family friends say the singer has bonded with the children – who are staying at the Jackson family compound in Encino - in the three weeks since her brother's death. They run into her arms as soon as she comes home, and they want her to read to them at night.

Twice-divorced Janet, who has reportedly split from long-term partner Jermaine Dupri, has no children of her own.

Meanwhile, a custody hearing was scheduled to take place in LA on Monday. Debbie Rowe, the biological mum of Prince Michael and Paris was expected to attend.

She has launched legal proceedings against a woman - said to be a former friend - who allegedly claimed on television that Debbie told her she didn't want custody.
