X Factor's Diana takes 'perfect little voice' to West End

Eighteen-year-old Diana Vickers, who reached the semi finals of X Factor in 2008, is due to begin a stage stint in the West End revival of The Rise And Fall Of Little Voice in October.

Following in the footsteps of Lancashire-born actress Jane Horrocks, Diana plays Laura, a shy and lonely young girl who impersonates iconic singers like Edith Piaf and Shirley Bassey.

"To find someone of the right age - just 18 - who is as special as Diana Vickers is a gift," producer Nica Burns says.

"(We have found) our perfect Little Voice."

Writer Jim Cartwright's play went on to become a hit movie in 1998, again starring Jane who won a Bafta for her portrayal of the character.

Due to make her acting debut alongside Lesley Sharp (left) and Hustle star Marc Warren, Diana will hit the stage at the Vaudeville Theatre from October 8.
