'Corrie' makes historic scheduling changes to allow for football

For the first time in its 50-year history, Coronation Street is being shown on Thursday evenings.

Some fans were left puzzled when they tuned in to catch up with the Street as usual on Wednesday only to find their favourite soap had been replaced by Grimefighters.

The new schedule - starting July 23 - has been designed to allow room for this year's coverage of football's UEFA Champions League on Wednesdays.

It is big news for big Corrie fans, who have, since the show began in 1960, tuned in on Wednesdays to watch the show.
