Colin Farrell has admitted it was daunting to follow in Arnold Schwarzenegger's footsteps by starring in the remake of Total Recall.
However the 36-year-old added that the new version, directed by Len Wiseman, is reassuringly different from the original version of the Philip K Dick sci-fi story.
Colin said: "When I heard they were remaking it I was a little bit sceptical and I knew that there might be a certain level of criticism aimed towards it.
"But the film itself, it felt like a very unique script. It felt tonally like it was so different from the original film."
Whilst Arnie took the lead in the 1990 version, which also featured Sharon Stone, Len's creation sees Colin star alonside Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel
The Irish actor admitted he didn't mind Kate playing his wife in the film, when her real husband, Len, was directing them.
He said: "I thought she was perfect casting. And Kate's not only well versed in the physicalities of making a big action film, she's also a wonderful actress."
