Lindsay Lohan given standing ovation on US chatshow

She was sentenced to four months in jail on Friday for allegedly stealing a $2,500 necklace.

But Lindsay Lohan doesn't appear to have lost any fans over her legal woes, proven when the crowd on US talkshow The Tonight Show With Jay Leno gave her a standing ovation.

The troubled actress opened up to the presenter about the controversy that has surrounded her recently, including her court appearances, brief jailing and family issues.

The 24-year-old deemed her sentence "shocking", and said it had left her "kind of numb".

But Lindsay revealed her plans to get her life back on track

"I’m not a kid anymore - I’m 24, I’ve made a lot of mistakes and I recognise that. I’m in the clear now, and as long as I stay focused, I can achieve what I want to achieve."
