'Get checked' urges Chris Evans after cancer scare

One Show presenter Chris Evans has urged people to take their health seriously after having pre-cancerous cells removed.

After his visit to the doctor, Chris wrote on his BBC blog: "As far as the procedure went, it was lights, camera, action and on we go with the show.

"A couple of pesky potential future little problems were discovered and swiftly removed, but other than that I'm afraid you're stuck with me for a few years longer at least.

The presenter lost his father to colon cancer when he was just 13, which is why he made his plea.

"Please, seriously if you or anyone you know may have any worries down below, get them checked out as soon as possible.

"This type of enemy is one hundred percent beatable - providing you don't give it chance to fire the first shot."

The 45-year-old radio personality posted on Twitter that he would have a celebration for both his health and his new book Memoirs of a Fruitcake.

The former Big Breakfast presenter –  who has more than nine million listeners – took over the show from Sir Terry Wogan last year.
