Princess Victoria's fiancé recovering after kidney transplant

Daniel Westling, the fiancé of Sweden's Crown Princess Victoria, is recovering after undergoing a kidney transplant. The gym-owner had the operation on Wednesday in Stockholm, and both he and the donor – his father Olle Westling – are doing well, reports the royal palace.

Daniel's bride-to-be couldn't be with her future husband during the surgery – which has been planned for some time after he suffered renal failure related to a problem he's had since birth. She was on a scheduled visit to Greenland with Denmark's Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Prince Haakon of Norway.

The Swedish press reports Daniel, 31, phoned Victoria at the earliest opportunity from his private room in the hospital to let her know everything had gone according to plan and that he was doing well.
