As the UK counts down to the London 2012 Olympics, an athletics double could not have come at a better time.
British runners Mo Farah and Chris Thompson claimed gold and silver medals respectively in the 10,000m race at the European Athletics Championships, in Barcelona.
The pair, who have been friends since their teenage years, shared a victory embrace after crossing the finish line as well as a heart-warming moment on the track when Mo, 27, turned round to cheer on Chris after sensing that his friend was losing his medal chance.
Somalian-born Londoner Mo arrived in Britain in 1993 as a nine-year-old refugee. Despite knowing little English and struggling at school he has forged a path for himself in world athletics.
After his win he said: "I can't describe how this feels. It's been so much hard work and I've spent so much time away from my family and this is for them.
"Down the back straight were all the British flags. It felt like we were at home. It was a glimpse of 2012 and was the best half hour of my life."
