COUNTRY GIRL SELINA SCOTT RETURNS TO UK TELEVISION

4 JANUARY 2007

Having famously quit her £1-million-a-year job as anchorwoman for America's CBS news channel in 1996 to become a farmer, British TV presenter Selina Scott is making a comeback.

Having spent the past ten years raising sheep and goats and selling her own-brand organic wool socks, the former newsreader is set to front a new series called Tales From The Country. The role is an altogether different one for the 55-year-old, who was once one of the UK's highest paid small screen stars, hosting The Clothes Show, BBC Breakfast Time and ITV's News At Ten.

As the face of the new programme Selina will be taking viewers on a tour of hidden corners of the British countryside, alongside fellow presenter and former ITV colleague Tony Francis. The ten-part series, which begins on Thursday night on ITV1, includes an episode featuring her 200-acre Yorkshire estate.
