Amanda Bynes hospitalised for mental health evaluation

23 JULY 2013 Amanda Bynes has been detained for mental health evaluation, according to reports.

The troubled former child star was accused of being drunk, trespassing and starting a fire in the grounds of a retirement community in California. Police were called and Amanda, 27, was subsequently taken to hospital.

Cpt. Don Aguilar of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department told the New York Daily News that Amanda "met the criteria of 5150" which is the Califorina Welfare & Institutions Code for involuntary hospitalization for mental evaluation.

Britney Spears was famously detained on a 5150 code in 2008 when she was placed under the conservatorship of her father Jamie Spears.

TMZ published photos of the Hairspray star, taken just hours before the incident at the retirement home, in which she was wearing a long bleach blonde wig and wearing sunglasses. Days earlier, she was reportedly ejected from the Ritz Carlton hotel in New York after her "nightmare" behaviour.

Sadly, the Hollywood actress has become known for her erratic behavior of late. She has taken to Twitter to criticize family members as well as celebrities including Rihanna and Drake. She has also refused to see her family.

"You can sense there’s pain and loss of control in her personal life when talking to her," said a friend.

She has also been accused of cutting off communication with former friends. "She deleted all of her email addresses and cell phone numbers so none of her friends can get in touch with her," revealed former ’N Sync singer Lance Bass.

"Her family and friends can’t get to her… so the only way into her life is through Twitter."
