Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos made a surprising confession about their talk show during the September 14 episode of LIVE! The hosts explained it will be the last year that they take on viral challenges on-air.
"This week we'll be taking on viral challenges when Kelly and I do it again. Today we are trying the marshmallow golf challenge," said Mark. "I just want to say a couple of things about Kelly and Mark Do It Again."
"This is the last year we're doing it," shared Mark, before Kelly added: "By the way, a lot of people don't realize that this will be the final year that we do it."
© Getty Images"So you gotta watch," said Mark. "So if you don't catch us doing it now...You'll never get to see us. We're not going to do it again and again. We're just going to do it, and that's it," added Kelly.
"Because we did practice a couple of these over the weekend," Mark told the audience. "We practiced a couple of times, and I realized what this is, is where we should take a stand," Kelly replied to her husband. "You and I need to take a stand and say, all right, 'Producers, you want to see us do it? You do it first.'"
© Getty ImagesShe continued: "You practice them, but you don't do them on TV. You just report to us, Oh, 'Gelman and I did it this morning.' And I go, 'Where's the proof? I'd never believed you.'"
"This is the easiest one we're gonna do today. I have to golf a marshmallow into your mouth," said Mark of the challenge. "It's really up to my mouth. I believe it's up to my mouth. How big are the marshmallows?" asked Kelly.
© Disney via Getty Images"They're not the big ones. They're like the regular size. They're not the beefy size," replied Mark. "Good. I don't want a beefy size. I have to get that in my mouth," Kelly quipped.
Mark then attempted to reassure his wife. "Yeah, but you have a big bite radius," he said. "Careful, dear," Kelly concluded.
The challenge comes after Live! with Kelly and Mark's summer hiatus. The hosts returned to the screen on the season 39 premiere episode on September 8 after a series of pre-recorded episodes throughout the summer.

Back in February, Kelly celebrated 25 years at the helm of LIVE! Kelly took over for Kathie Lee Gifford as Regis Philbin's cohost in 2001 and has remained on the show ever since. Following Regis' exit in 2011, she was joined by Michael Strahan from 2012 to 2016 and Ryan Seacrest from 2017 to 2023.
Mark – who shares kids Michael, Lola, and Joaquin, with his wife – joined LIVE! officially in 2023 following Ryan's departure. Ryan left the show due to the demands of traveling back and forth between his home in Los Angeles and the studio in New York, as well as his desire to focus on other projects.
