Cristiano Ronaldo has been spending some time with his mini-me son ahead of the Champions League quarterfinal on Wednesday evening. The Real Madrid player revealed that his son, also named Cristiano, wished him luck for the match against Atletico Madrid.

Sharing a photo of the four-year-old sitting on his lap in the driving seat of a car, Cristiano wrote: "It is fantastic to hear our son wishing 'Good luck Dad!'"

Cristiano Jr. looked the spitting image of his footballer dad in the photo, which attracted over one million likes on Instagram, along with plenty of good luck wishes from fans.

The 30-year-old doesn't often post photos of his son on social media, but recently gave a glimpse at "family time" with Cristiano Jr. and his mum in another sweet Instagram photo.

"Family time is precious time and I'm enjoying it," he wrote.

Cristiano also occasionally brings his son along to sporting events, and was joined onstage by Cristiano Jr. as he collected the Ballon d'Or prize in January.

The legendary footballer became a dad for the first time in June 2010 after his son was born in the United States. At the time Cristiano, who has full custody of the boy, never revealed the identity of the boy's mother.

Portugal-born Cristiano appears to be in good spirits despite the demise of his relationship with model Irina Shayk in the New Year. His older sister Elma recently admitted that the split has had a big impact on the family, telling Correio da Manha it was "like a death" that the family needed to "overcome".

However she admitted that Cristiano is coping fine with being single.

"He's fine with or without a woman on the side. He's happy," she insisted, adding that the end of Cristiano and Irina's five year relationship was like that of any other couple.

"This separation was like a normal couple. Finished and ready. Finished and ready. Now is to move on."
