Zayn Malik isn't letting his split from Perrie Edwards get him down. The former One Direction singer shared a photo of himself "chillin" in Los Angeles on Wednesday, just one day after it emerged he had called off his engagement to the Little Mix star.

The black-and-white snap shows Zayn wearing a grey T-shirt and looking serious as he gazed into the camera. "LA chillin..." he wrote in a subsequent tweet, along with a peace sign.

Zayn said he is "chillin" in Los Angeles after his split from Perrie

The 22-year-old is believed to be in Los Angeles to work on his first solo album after he signed a record deal with RCA records at the end of July. He has not yet addressed his break-up from Perrie, despite receiving a backlash from fans after it was reported he ended their relationship by text.

A source told The Sun: "He's ended their engagement with one text message and in the two weeks since there's been complete radio silence between them. Who does that? She's devastated, which everyone understands, but is doing her best to focus on her work and put on a brave face in public."

Indeed the blonde beauty showed her ex what he was missing in a photo posted to Instagram on Wednesday night. Perrie, who is also in LA with her Little Mix band mates, told fans she was "all glammed and ready to boogie", alongside a photo of herself wearing an eye-catching white lace dress.

There was no sign of the 22-year-old's diamond engagement ring, which she was still wearing during a promotional tour with Little Mix just a couple of days earlier.

Perrie broke her silence about the shock split during an interview with E! on Tuesday, during which she fielded a question about how she was coping with a smile on her face - despite appearing to be on the verge of tears.

"I'm good, thank you," she said, before bandmate Leigh-Anne added: "We don't really want to talk about it."
