Britain's beaches will certainly be sizzling this summer if Elizabeth Hurley has anything to do with it. The sexy model-actress has turned her attentions to design, coming up with a red-hot range of beachwear that is as glamorous as she is.
On Tuesday, the star launched the Elizabeth Hurley Beach collection at Harrods, which will exclusively carry the new range in the UK. Joined by boyfriend Arun Nayar and Harrods owner Mohammed Al Fayed, Hampshire-born Liz brought some heat to chilly London with a line-up of models sporting her barely-there creations.
"I decided to come up with my own beachwear line because I've always been obsessed with summer clothes and finding the right ones to take on holiday," she said. "It's more challenging for those of us who come from a rainy, chilly country, where we were brought up never to leave the house without a cardigan and an umbrella."
There are 21 mix-and-match pieces in the debut collection, including sarongs, tops, skirts, beach bags, sunhats pants and kaftans. Elizabeth had a hand in all aspects of the design process, from choosing fabrics to attending final fittings, and it looks like jaunts to her beau's home country have had an influence on her view of fashion. Her simple yet seductive beachwear incorporates intricate Indian embroidery and hand-beading with semi-precious stones. |
