Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas are enjoying time at their summer hideaway in Majorca – but the trip isn’t all about relaxing on sandy beaches of the Spanish island paradise. The Hollywood couple was on hand to welcome 96-year-old Cuban musician Compay Segundo on Tuesday as they kicked off the Mediterranean Nights music festival.

The Basic Instinct star never left the side of his beautiful wife as they promoted the music event, which is sponsored by a cultural centre that he established nearby his clifftop estate. And Compay didn’t come alone, either – he brought a box of much-appreciated Cuban cigars for, as he put it, “El amigo Michael”.

Michael and Catherine are huge fans of Caribbean music, and the festival – which this year also features Art Garfunkel, Ladysmith Black Mambazo and Enrique Morente – is a popular annual attraction.

The actor has also been long been enamoured by Majorca and the whitewashed 19th-century mansion he owns there, S’Estaca, situated between Valldemosa and Deia on the north Coast.

After the Mediterranean respite, Michael will be back at work on his next film, Smack In The Kisser in New York. The movie, set for a September stateside release, features three generations of Douglases: Michael, his son Cameron, and his legendary dad, 85-year-old Kirk.
