Renee Zellweger has been giving her film Cinderella Man a boost in Europe, by jetting in for its UK premiere just days after an appearance in Venice.

The 36-year-old, who has been dogged by rumours that her marriage to country singer Kenny Chesney is in trouble, was all smiles and every inch the Hollywood pro as she attended the screening in London's Curzon Soho cinema without her husband of four months.

And Kenny wasn't the only absentee on the night, as co-star Russell Crowe, who'd joined her in the Italian city, was also a no-show.

The Bridget Jones actress was on upbeat form, however, as she promoted the boxing drama, which is tipped to be an Oscar contender. Her usual sylph-like self in an elegant strapless number with a bold geometric design, Renee remained loyal to her fashion designer of choice, Caroline Herrera.

In the Depression-era story Renee plays wife to Oscar nominee Russell in his role as Jim Braddock, a real life American boxer who captured the American imagination when he made a sensational comeback after hitting rock bottom.

While she admits she's no fan of boxing, the Cold Mountain star is full of admiration for the sportsman's wife. "She was a neat lady," says Renee. "She was such an elegant woman and had such strength of character to face such adversity and manage to maintain her composure for the sake of the greater good of the family."
