Brad Pitt has been getting in a spot of fatherly practice by spending some one-on-one time with Angelina Jolie's little boy. The 42-year-old, who recently applied to become Maddox's adoptive father, was spotted picking the youngster up from his school in Malibu on Wednesday.

Casually dressed in navy blue jeans and a matching t-shirt, the Hollywood hunk carried the four-year-old's schoolbag as they left the building together. And Brad was obviously keen to have some fun with his young charge as he took him straight to a nearby sporting goods store where they picked up two "super-soaker" water pistols.

Speculation that Brad will soon tie the knot with Angelina is meanwhile hotting up stateside. The Troy actor recently confirmed his intention to adopt the Lara Croft star's children and legal experts say the process would be expedited by them taking a trip down the aisle together.

Predictions the pair would soon make their vows appeared to be lent credence when the heart-throb actor was spotted perusing engagement rings at an upmarket jewellery store. Maddox and his one-year-old sister Zahara will carry the surname Pitt-Jolie if the application is approved.
