Married at First Sight UK has seen many ups and downs but one of the most complex storylines has been the marriages between Ella Morgan and Nathanial Valentino, and JJ Slater and Bianca Petronzi.

In recent episodes, all four faced a lot of drama when it became clear that Ella and JJ had got close behind their respective partners' backs.

It's now been teased that Ella and JJ will be returning to the show as a brand-new couple. So how did we end up here? And are they still together to this day? Here's the lowdown of what happened.

Are JJ Slater and Ella Morgan from MAFS UK together now?

Fans of Married at First Sight UK will know that JJ and Ella both left their respective partners as they weren't getting on. But now, the E4 programme showed a teaser hinting that they're returning to the experiment to be given the chance to pursue their romance as a new couple, with the help of the experts Paul C Brunson, Charlene Douglas and Mel Schilling.

But since the series is pre-recorded, many are wondering if the pair are still together to this day. As with many of the couples on the show, the pair have kept mostly quiet on their social media so not to spoil the remainder of the series. But they have dropped the odd hint that indicates they're still in each other's lives in some capacity.

JJ wrote a post after one episode aired that he branded the "lowest I have been throughout the whole experiment". Underneath, Ella posted a love-heart emoji. We'll have to wait to find out the couple's fate.

What happened between Nathanial Valentino and Ella on Married at First Sight?

It all started when Ella and Nathanial went on their honeymoon. The couple seemingly had a fantastic wedding day and looked besotted with each other the moment they met each other at the altar. But when they jetted off on their luxury post-wedding trip, the cracks began to show.

The pair had many more explosive moments and fiery arguments when Nathanial found out about Ella's previous job as an exotic dancer. The downfall continued when it emerged that Ella and JJ had been unfaithful, which prompted Nathaniel to leave the experiment.

He told the rest of the participants: "Guys, I'm leaving. I don't want to be here anymore. I think I've lost myself in this storm. I hope you guys have the most amazing experience, but I'm not here anymore."

What happened between JJ Slater and Bianca Petronzi

JJ and Bianca also met on the show when they entered the experiment as a bombshell couple. At their wedding, they didn't get off to a flying start as JJ admitted that Bianca wasn't his usual type. The pair did not share a kiss, including on their honeymoon, and JJ revealed that he wanted to take a fresh approach to the relationship.

"My normal type is slightly different to Bianca," he said, "It's been like girls that have had a lot of work done and they kind of all look the same. In this experiment I wanted something deeper and more emotional."

And then when it emerged that JJ and Ella had been texting and kissing behind Bianca's back, like Nathanial, she decided to depart the experiment. "I didn't really feel like he even let me in. I felt like even from the wedding day there was a wall and I think he asked for a different type of person but I don't think he actually wanted a different type," she told the experts.
