Rita Ora is constantly and nonchalantly influencing our new season sartorial wishlist. Her autumn fashion agenda so far has consisted of party season mini dresses, quiet luxury loafers with colourful socks and starting bizarre makeup trends that we actually can’t get enough of.

Nailing the AW23 outerwear game, the global superstar, fashion icon and wife of Taika Waititi, stepped out at Primark’s flagship store in London on Wednesday wearing the coolest midi coat, to meet fans and celebrate the Rita Ora x Primark collection.

The Praising You singer wore a black glossy trench coat that boasted an oversized silhouette and a waist-cinching belt. A trench is a transitional season must-have, and Rita’s vinyl material piece puts a contemporary spin on the classic trench - a coat style that dates as far back as the 1820s.

Supermodel Kate Moss is also a fan of the black trench for 2023, proving a darker colourway is favoured over the quintessential beige this season.

Rita paired the cool-girl coat with leather everything: straight-leg trousers tucked into matching knee-high boots and finished off with a shoulder bag. Her head-to-toe black look gave this year's minimalism trend an edgier, 'Matrix-chic' makeover.

What is the Rita Ora x Primark collection?

Earlier this season Rita announced a collection with Primark, which features a whopping 169 pieces, that she co-designed with Primark and emerging London-based designer Jawara Alleyne.

“Throughout my life, I have always wanted to look stylish, and when I was younger, I couldn’t have done that without Primark,” Rita explained in a press release, “I could always stretch my budget with so many great pieces from Primark. Honestly, that is really when I learned how to get creative and play with fashion. Creating this collection with Primark has been very nostalgic for me, and I can’t wait for the world to see it!”

The collection contains everything from statement jewellery to elevated denim, tailored separates, faux fur coats, neutral knitwear, handbags, and western boots. Primark explained the collection has a '‘day to night’ theme, reflecting many of Rita’s favourite looks with each piece easily styled to reflect a broad range of personalities, trends and styles from casual everyday essentials to statement evening looks.

If you're still in need of a longline jacket for this season, a black trench is utterly cool-girl approved.
