We quite like throwing dice. We know we can't predict which number will be face up at the end of a roll, but it amuses us to try. We have no objection to this random process. We become, though, very hot under the collar when events we expect to be predictable turn out surprisingly. You are now expecting that a process will be consistent with a past experience. If it turns out to be rather different, which it well may, it doesn't actually mean that there is something wrong. Adjust your idea of what 'ought' to occur.... and relax!
