PRINCE CHARLES CONSIDERING ‘COUNTRY CASUALS’ FASHION LINE

The Prince of Wales probably isn’t the first name to come to mind when one thinks of fashion, but the 54-year-old heir to Britain’s throne may be poised to make his mark in the field. The Prince is reportedly considering the launch of a line of scarves, sweaters and tweed suits to be put on the market under a royal brand.

The “country casuals” range, which would be sold by the Prince’s Duchy Originals organic food line, would be made from British-farmed wool in an effort to help farmers devastated in the wake of last year’s foot and mouth outbreak. And, as with other products sold by Duchy Originals, all profits from the clothing sales would go to charity.

A spokeswoman for the Prince has confirmed that Duchy Originals, set up to encourage eco-friendly agriculture, is looking to expand into “high quality non-food products.” In addition to the clothing line – which, says the representative, is “very much at the idea stage” – a new range of garden furniture is said to be in the pipeline.

Duchy Originals, set up by the Prince 12 years ago, already produces biscuits, cheese, sausages and bacon.
