As Queen Elizabeth continued her three-day visit to France this week she once again added her own personal touch to the Entente Cordiale between the two countries, winning favour with both her fashion sense and a new closer to the people approach.

Dressed in a blue coat and dress with matching hat which had Parisian ladies commenting excitedly "Ah, c'est bleu!", the Queen enjoyed a short walkabout in a narrow shopping street. As she paused to chat with bystanders, members of the crowd offered her small bunches of flowers, while one lady presented her with a giant Easter egg.

After lunch French-style – including guinea fowl with foie gras and apricot mousse with chocolate sauce – the British monarch once again met assembled crowds gathered in front of the Louvre, after viewing the museum's collection of works by British artists.

Later in the day she visited the French National Riding School where she was treated to a display of equestrian formation moves. On Wednesday the royal party moves on to the South of France, where they will visit the city of Toulouse.
