It's thanks to Andy Murray that the town of Dunblane will be in the spotlight this week. The tennis pro has chosen the Scottish location – the place he grew up in – as his wedding venue to marry his long-term love Kim Sears on Saturday.

In honour of their local hero, residents have pulled out all the stops and preparations are well under way.

While Kim and Andy, both 27, will be saying "I do" in a private ceremony at the Dunblane Cathedral, the whole town will be celebrating their official union.

Dunblane's local charity chop has put a wedding dress and tuxedo on display

Andy will have the chance to give something back to the community that has been so supportive over the years, and is expected to greet well-wishers after the ceremony as he and Kim make their way to the Cromlix House Hotel for the reception.

Cleaners have set to work in the cathedral, making sure the interior is spick and span for the upcoming A-lister wedding. Every inch of the religious building is being wiped down and bunting has already been set up in the nearby streets to greet Kim and Andy when they take their first steps as newlyweds.

A butcher's menu offers Kim Sears and Andy Murray-themed burgers and sausages

Local butchers David Bennett & Son are whipping up a bespoke menu, and are offering special sausages and burgers. The groom's "Wimbledon Bangers" and the bride's "Big Day Sausages" as well as "Sweetheart Burgers" are on sale.

The Riverside pub has brewed a special beer called TogetherNess for the big day, while the Dunblane Hotel promises to serve strawberries and cream and prosecco in Andy and Kim's honour.

Everyone from schoolchildren to adults are making congratulatory cards to send to the happy couple

Charity shop Sue Ryder is showing a great deal of affection for the happy couple, and has erected a wedding dress and tuxedo in its front window, with pictures of the pretty artist and the Wimbledon champion stuck on the mannequins.

Schoolchildren have been making congratulatory cards to be delivered to the newlyweds, and one local Sandy Anderson, owner of The Point shop, proudly showed off a larger version of the card he and his wife sent Kim and Andy.
