Jennifer Hudson may not have been someone particularly interested in walking down the aisle with a partner in the past, but her current relationship has her at least considering the possibility.
The actress and talk show host, 45, has been dating Oscar-winning musician Common, 54, since 2022, with the couple officially confirming their romance in early 2024.
While the pair have kept their relationship relatively low-key, they're still going strong, with Jennifer explaining in a new interview that she's not opposed to the idea of marrying Common.
Jennifer Hudson's thoughts on marrying Common
During an appearance on the October 20 episode of Baby, This is Keke Palmer, she was asked by host Keke whether she's interested in the idea of marriage, given the rapper has spoken often about seeing a wedding in his future.
"Thank you for asking that question!" Jennifer defiantly stated, adding: "I appreciate you asking that question because people automatically always assume women just want to be married, and that is not always the case."
She continued: "The only thing I will say about it is this is the only person where I'm like, 'You know what? Actually, I would consider that with him.' But have I been that type of person to want to be in that space? No."
The Dreamgirls star also cleared up a misconception that people had about her marital status. "And let me say, I have never – I hate when people think that, 'Oh, she's been married.' I have never been married. But in this relationship, I'm like, 'You know what? Okay.'"
Keke then told Jennifer to make sure her invitation wasn't lost "in the mail system" if they were to get married, sweetly saying: "Knowing his personality and knowing your personality, it's just perfect," with Jennifer musing: "That's my friend, you know?" Keke said: "It's a blessing!"
Common's thoughts on marrying Jennifer
The "Glory" hitmaker made his first appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show as her official boyfriend in January 2024, with the pair adorably confirming their romance for the world to see.
He also made comments on the show about seeing marriage in their future, and when quizzed about it on TODAY later that year, Common said of them: "I didn't feel like that was the hot seat. I was just being true to who I was. It was the cool seat because it was really, just, man, I was telling my truth and that truth still is there."
"She's just an amazing human being, beautiful person," he gushed. "I'm loving watching her on her talk show. I'm a fan. I watch her talk show." During an appearance on The Breakfast Club earlier in the year, Common noted that if he were to get married, it would be to the "Spotlight" singer.
Jennifer jokingly confronted him about the remarks a few months later on her talk show, saying: "I heard you've been even out there talking about marriage. What's that about? I just happened to notice that." Watch that moment below...
He replied: "You know what, you told me a quote that your mother said, 'A man knows what he wants.' I was saying my true feelings about, listen, Jennifer is the person. If I should be married, it will be to Jennifer Kate Hudson. I was just being honest."
