True beauty never fades seems to be the message from the panel of experts who compiled the newly released list of Top 50 Sexiest Brits Ever for men’s magazine Maxim. Reigning supreme at the top of the list is Joanna Lumley, still absolutely fabulous at 56. Joining her in the upper echelons of the ranking are other seasoned stars Joan Collins, Barbara Windsor and Elizabeth Taylor.
There’s only one “baby” in the list – Kelly Brook, who is in her 20s. Elizabeth Hurley, who stands at number five and Catherine Zeta-Jones, who snagged the number two slot, are both 30-somethings.
“There are a lot of older women in the list,” says Maxim editor Tom Loxley. “But that is because they defy time. With Joanna Lumley especially, from the days when she was Purdey in The New Avengers to Patsy in Ab Fab she has been sizzling.
“And then Joan Collins – there really is no comparison between her and the young soap actresses and models of today. When she walks into a room it lights the whole place up.”
