STARS THRILL THE CROWDS AT TEEN CHOICE AWARDS

Amid screams and flashing cameras, teenyboppers flocked to fete the likes of Pamela Anderson, ‘Nsync’s Justin Timberlake, and rapper Usher at the fourth annual Fox Teen Choice Awards in Los Angeles.

Among the stars who appeared at the gala affair Sunday at the Universal Amphitheatre were Susan Sarandon - complete with her kids - Friends actor Matthew Perry and American Beauty’s Mena Suvari.

Reese Witherspoon took home the surfboard trophy for extraordinary achievement, the evening’s top honour. Voters selected Britney Spears and Ja Rule for the Favourite Female and Male Singers awards, while Usher was named Best Rap Artist and his singleU Got It Bad was selected as Best Love Song.

The Adam Sandler flick Mr Deeds scooped the Movie Of The Summer gong, while Spider-Man picked up Favourite Action Film. Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst also walked away with the award for the Best “Lip Lock” for their smooch in the rain in the superhero movie. And last year’s American Pie II was named Choice Movie Your Parents Didn’t Want You To See.

Friends was selected as Best TV Comedy, while MTV’s reality TV show about Ozzy Osbourne’s family swept away the competition to receive Best TV Reality Show.

Also attending the lively event were model and actress Carmen Electra, Jennifer Love Hewitt and wrestler-turned-actor The Rock.

The Teen Choice Awards ceremony was taped for broadcast on the Fox Network in the US on August 19. Votes for favourite actors, musicians and athletes were cast on forms published in the US teen mag Seventeen.
