Big Brother contestant Nush Nowak may not be able to walk for over a year after a mugger left her with a broken leg and kneecap.

The 23-year-old was walking home from a party in London's Kentish Town when the incident took place. Her attacker snatched her handbag, but Nush fought back and her assailant knocked her to the ground in response. She was being accompanied by fellow Big Brother contestants Scott Turner and Jon Tickle at the time, but things unfolded so quickly that they didn't have time to react.

"We were called at approximately 4am this morning after a woman in her early 20s was approached by a man, again in his early 20s, while she was walking in Lady Margaret Road," said a police spokesman.

"The man grabbed her handbag, she resisted and fell to the ground injuring her leg. He then ran off with her bag carrying money and a mobile phone. The woman was taken by ambulance to a north London hospital with a suspected broken kneecap and thigh bone."

Nush underwent extensive surgery at the Royal Free Hospital, and it may take up to 18 months before she recovers fully. The injuries are a serious blow for the health-mad celebrity, who was planning to become a yoga teacher.
