Famed TV presenter Des O'Connor has announced he's set to become a dad for the fifth time, aged 72.

The veteran star, who has four daughters from previous relationships, is thrilled to be welcoming baby number five with his 35-year-old fiancée Jodie Brooke Wilson.

"Jodie and I couldn't be happier," said Des as he revealed the happy news. "We've been talking about a baby for a long time, and this Christmas we had such a wonderful family holiday together with my daughters and their partners. We just felt the time was right for us to have a baby of our own."

Singer-songwriter Jodie, who has been with Des for 14 years, is "over the moon" as she awaits her firstborn child. "Des will be a wonderful dad," she said. "I've seen how much he adores his daughters .. and the girls and I have always got on so well together I believe the new baby will bring us all even closer."

Des has one child, Karen, from his marriage to Phyllis Gill, whom he divorced in 1958. A second round of nuptials, with ballerina Gillian Vaughan, led to two more daughters, Tracy and Samantha, who are now in their 30s. After his 22-year union with the dancer came to an end, he wed model Jay Rufer, welcoming a fourth daughter, Kristina, in 1987.
