If the title of the film was Paris, Je T'aime, then singer Feist was an obvious choice when it came to contributions for the soundtrack. On Thursday Canada's favourite indie chick accompanied filmmaker Alexander Payne to the movie's opening at Cannes.

The Nova Scotia-born artiste sings in both French and English the tune La Meme Histoire for the series of shorts about love in Paris. And she wasn't the only star who apparently jumped at the chance to be involved in the quirky venture.

Alexander, also the director behind romantic comedy Sideways, managed to tempt a top-notch international cast to come on board. Some of the renowned talents that signed up for the project include Juliet Binoche and Natalie Portman, as well as Steve Buscemi and Bob Hoskins.

Feist has been a fan of the French capital ever since recording her 2004 album Let It Die there. And it seems the love affair is mutual, with the Parisians also taking their Canadian cousin to their hearts. In January she travelled back to Europe to record her latest offering Open Season, which was released this spring.
