Popular gardening presenter Alan Titchmarsh is set to host his own music show on Radio 2. The former Ground Force star will be joining the likes of well-known Brit broadcasters Chris Evans, Terry Wogan and Jonathon Ross on the station.
His Sunday evening spot, Alan Titchmarsh With Melodies For You is set to hit the airwaves on January 28, replacing Sheridan Morley, who is to spend more time in the US. Green-fingered Alan, who is currently filming a BBC natural history series Nature Of Britain to be shown in the autumn, says he is "delighted" with the job offer after contributing to Radio 2 intermittently over the last 30 years.
He isn't the only one being offered his own show. Jungle survivor David Guest has landed his own fly-on-the-wall series with ITV. The estranged husband of Liza Minnelli thrilled audiences during I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here with his bizarre revelations of home life, claiming to have one-legged parents and a cleaner called Vaginika Seaman.
"It's going to be an absolute blast," says the extrovert 57-year-old. Cameras will follow him as he meets up with his A-list pals, who include Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston, during the six-part show. Show boss Layla Smith is convinced the music producer will deliver compelling viewing. "He was the star of I'm A Celebrity - a real revelation," she says. "We can't wait to go behind the scenes."
