Original 'Idol' winner Kelly Clarkson coaches Canadian hopefuls

In September 2002 nobody could've predicted where first ever American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson would end up. Now, Five years after scooping the coveted top spot, the talented vocalist has established herself as a main player in the music business, with two Grammy Awards, and album sales topping 16 million.

One group of aspiring artists who are no doubt hoping to follow in her successful footsteps are the five remaining Canadian Idol contestants. Fitting then, that the budding performers were given pointers from the A Moment Like This singer in Toronto as they prepared their stage acts - featuring songs by their own musical idols.

As well as dishing out advice, the 25-year-old pop chanteuse spoke about her views on the the Canadian version of the show that rocketed her to fame. "Yours is so cool," the 25-year-old admitted. "Your Idol is so much better. They don't let you near instruments on the American one!"

Later she showcased her own winning talent, taking to the stage to belt out her new single Never Again during the results show - which ultimately saw the soulful Matt Rapley voted off.
