The dream is over for Storm Lee and Diva Fever. On Sunday, both acts were voted off The X Factor in a double elimination. The second week of live shows saw Louis' act Storm, Simon's wildcard group Diva Fever and his girl ensemble Belle Amie in the bottom three. Red-haired rocker Storm, who sang Bruce Springsteen's Born to Run, was the first to go after receiving the fewest public votes.

That left the two groups to go head-to-head in the sing-off.And it wasn't good news for the boys. Craig Saggers and Joe Al-Smadi's rendition of Gloria Gaynor's disco hit I Will Survive didn't impress the judges on the night, and it was Belle Amie who survived the vote.

Louis Walsh, Dannii Minogue and Cheryl Cole, all chose to save the girls, - singing Fergie's Big Girls Don't Cry - meaning groups-mentor Simon didn’t have to choose between his two acts.

The music mogul did however apologise to Diva Fever, who said they weren't happy with their Saturday night song choice, Barbra Streisand by Duck Sauce. "I accept full responsibility," he told the duo. "I let you down and I'm sorry." Meanwhile, Cheryl's controversial act Katie Waissel was the first contestant to be told she was through to week three. And it wasn't long before she was joined by the rest of Cheryl's picks; Treyc Cohen, Rebecca Ferguson and Cher Lloyd.

Irish supermarket worker Mary Byrne received a standing ovation when she belted out You Don't Have To Say You Love Me by Dusty Springfield. Paije Richardson – singing Alicia Keys' If I Ain't Got You – and Matt Cardle also impressed. The latter, who sang Just The Way You Are by Bruno Mars, is now favourite to win the competition.
