Nicole opens up about marriage heartbreak as she is honoured

Looking at Nicole Kidman, it's easy to see she's in a very good place right now.

The Aussie actress was positively glowing as she was honoured during the New York Film Festival this week.

Nicole, who looked elegant in a knee-length gown, is happily married to musician Keith Urban and the couple have two daughters – Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret.

Despite her blissfull home life today, the actress has said she still has fond memories of her previous marriage.

Nicole split with Tom Cruise in 2001 after a ten-year union with the Hollywood star.

She may agree that it was never meant to be, but she has no regrets in marrying the Mission Impossible actor.

She told Australian magazine : "I married really fast and really young. But I don't regret that because it got me (children) Bella and Connor and I did have a fantastic marriage for a long period."

She added: "There were times following (the divorce) when I thought, 'Wow, this is the loneliest, loneliest existence'."

"But with Tom, it was a fantastic decade."

It was widely reported that when Tom's third marriage – to Katie Holmesbroke down, Nicole had phoned the Dawson's Creek actress to offer advice.

But Nicole has said that's not true.

"I never spoke to her. I wish all of them well, but I was not involved in any of that," she said.
